Tuesday Top 5 - Book Series - Domestic Adoption

by

At the end of the last month, I introduced a books series for the Tuesday Top 5. My first week I shared my top five books for attaching in adoption with a bonus for general parenting after adoption. This week I’m covering domestic adoption.

My husband and I were not deep into our research about adoption when we discovered Lucas’ situation so I was at a loss for book suggestions for domestic adoption because we shifted from researching our adoptions to researching attachment, older child and inter-country adoption. Therefore, I needed some help with this week’s Tuesday Top 5. I turned to my twin sister. After researching all their options, including domestic adoption, Rhonda and her husband were led to adopt in China.

Given my sister’s research and my lack of research on this subject, I turned to her as someone whom I trust for recommendations on books for domestic adoption. You may notice, though, that some overlap other topics. While many books on adoption are topic-specific, some are broad enough to overlap other situations.

My sister’s Tuesday Top 5:

  1. Adoption is a Family Affair by Patricia Irwin Johnston
  2. Attaching In Adoption by Deborah Gray
  3. Adopting the Hurt Child by Gregory C. Keck & Regina M. Kupecky
  4. Parenting the Hurt Child by Gregory C. Keck & Regina M. Kupecky
  5. Twenty Things Adopted Kids Wish Their Adoptive Parents Knew by Sherrie Elderidge

Next week I’ll cover Inter-Country Adoption.
