My very last day!

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

So, today is my very last day of work. As of 4pm today, I will be a full time stay at home mom. (Well, I guess a full time stay at home mom / part time blogger!!) About 2 1/2 weeks ago my son’s daycare informed us she was closing. Her youngest is getting ready to start school and she had a great opportuntity fall into her lap, so she chose to take it. Transracial adoption

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

My son’s adoption is a transracial adoption. This means he is a different race than my husband and I. We are Caucasian. Cameron is biracial: African American and Caucasian.

They went in great depth about the difficulty they had finding families for African American children. As a result, the fees were slighlty lower and the wait times were significantly shorter. We left there feeling like we finally had a reason for why we were unable to get pregnant. We had a purpose! We were supposed to adopt African American children. (more…)

We have a fully open adoption with Cameron’s first family. What does this mean, you ask. Well, that is what I am here to explain!! (Please keep in mind that some people view open in different degrees. These are solely my opinions based on my life experiences.) (more…)

Domestic vs. International adoption

Monday, May 28th, 2007

Our adoption of Cameron was a domestic adoption. What does this mean? We live in the United States and he was born in the United States. Plain and simple.

An interntaional adoption would be an adoption where the parents live in the United States and adopt from another country. (more…)
